Martina Bruni

Martina Bruni (Cosenza, 1989) lives and works as an analytical psychotherapist in Milan.

In her work, dense and layered colors define on fragile surfaces a shadowy and enveloping nature, inhabited by everyday objects, symbols, and mysterious figures. Something archaic comes to life in the precious painting gesture that ignites the works with a light seemingly coming from an unknown time, illuminating the present with ironic wisdom and dramatic fatalism. Alchemical literature, in the various texts in which it has been layered throughout history up to Jung, sheds light on the artist’s creative process, which reworks her own experiences along with those of places and objects encountered in reality, memory, or dreams. Nourished by intense study, understood as an intimate and compromising exercise, Martina’s artistic practice recognizes in each work the value of the symbol as a means of constructing meaning. It suggests a commitment to the discovery of the Self as the only path to see and embrace the other.
