Andreas Zampella

Andreas Zampella (Salerno, 1989)

2008/2009 Diploma of first level in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples

2011/2012 Diploma of second level in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples

All the elements of Andreas’ work are composed as in a theatrical piece: the painting is the scenography of actions and non-actions, a metaphor for those who observe them; the tools and sculptures the props, whose meaning changes, are discovered in space, All things live in a condition of continuous action, as abscissions of performing art. With these guidelines, his work investigates the relationship between reality and representation in society, admitting the failure of communication in contemporary times. Like thresholds or half-open exits, his works oscillate in conditions bordering on tiredness and anxiety, lamentation and accusation, obligation and boredom, individual and collective, and they do so indolently, hypocritically, in the full paradox of reality.

Recent solo shows: Passaggio al buio, in the context of the Portfolio cycle of the Quadriennale di Roma at Palazzo Braschi (2023); Dove nascono gli uccelli at Nashira Gallery in Milan (2023) and Eravamo cuori in Atlantide at Z2o project (Rome 2024).

Among the group exhibitions: Letters around a garden by Marta Ferrara and Mario Francesco De Simone, gallery Alfonso Artiaco, Naples (2024), Lissone Prize by Francesca Guerisoli, Lissone Museum (2023); City, woods, of birds by Lucrezia Longobardi and Nora De Blasio, Officine San Carlo, Naples (2022)
