Davide Serpetti
Davide Serpetti (L’Aquila, 1990)
He studied at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and obtained an MFA from KASK – The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium in 2015. A finalist for the Komask Prize, he exhibited in a double show at the Royal Academy of Antwerp and Le Grand Curtius Museum in Liège. In 2016 he made the cover of Exibart #95 with the work “DiCaprio’s Triptych,” part two. Since 2018, at the invitation of Luigi Presicce, he coordinates the artistic residency Simposio di Pittura at the Fondazione Lac o Le mon in Lecce. In 2020 he wins the COMBAT Prize for the painting section, with a special mention by Andrea Bruciati. In the same year he is reported on AucArt by British curator Kate Bryan, Global Head of Collections at Soho House. In 2021, Il Sole 24 Ore includes him in its list of young artists to buy. His first solo exhibition, Reload, is mounted in 2018 at the Museo di San Domenico in Imola (Bologna). In 2021 is the solo show Heavy Metal Lover at mc2Gallery in Milan, with a text by Carlo Sala. His first solo show in Rome opened in September of the same year and was hosted by CasaVuota, an exhibition space curated by Sabino De Nichilo and Francesco Paolo Del Re, and was named The Sleepers, with a site-specific intervention in collaboration with digital artist Karol Sudolski. Also in 2021 during ArtVerona 16 Serpetti is selected among the winning artists of the well-known Level0 edition by Andrea Bruciati, who will then curate his solo show at the spaces of Villa D’Este in Tivoli in November 2022, with the support of mc2Gallery. Following the exhibition, a work becomes part of VILLAE’s collection. In the summer of 2022 he is selected along with 19 other artists from around the world to attend the Summer Workshop at the studio of artist Enrique Martinez Celaya in Los Angeles. Group shows to which he is invited include in 2010 Not Feeling At Home at Galleria Artra in Milan, in 2013 COBALTO40 curated by Yuri Ancarani at Il Crepaccio in Milan, in 2014 Don’t Steal My Moment at KASK, and in 2015 What is your poison? at Croxhapox in Ghent, in 2021 Danae Revisited curated by Carlo Sala at Fondazione Francesco Fabbri in Pieve del Soligo (Treviso), in 2022 “Things Happen,” curated by Lido Contemporaneo at Artcurial in Milan, in 2023 Come Un Onda, Come In Volo – 100 Horses for Francesco Baracca – at Museo Francesco Baracca in Lugo, a group show called “Contestabile” at Contemporary Cluster at Palazzo Brancaccio (Rome) and later Supernova 23, curated by Luca Beatrice for Gallerie d’Italia – Intesa SanPaolo during Miart 2023 (Milan), Luxence – The timeless essence of forms, curated by Elisa Carollo, Luxury Living, New York City. Also in 2023, the publication of two works: a cover created by Serpetti for La Lettura, cultural insert of Corriere della Sera edited by Gianluigi Colin and a second work for La Foresta magazine edited by Domenico Russo and Andrea Tinterri. In October of the same year Serpetti participated in the group show “ Pittura Italiana Oggi ” at Triennale Milano curated by Damiano Gullì, with an installation design by Italo Rota and an Honorary Board composed of Francesco Bonami, Suzanne Hudson and Hans Ulrich Obrist. In 2024 some of Serpetti’s works become part of the collection of Soho House Rome and River House in Windsor, once again chosen by Kate Bryan. In the spring of the same year he participated in the group show “Le diable au corps” curated by Daniele Capra and Massimo Mattioli at Bonelli Lab, the exhibition space of Galleria Giovanni Bonelli in Canneto Sull’Oglio. Davide Serpetti was selected as one of the twenty finalist artists for the Cairo Prize, with a group exhibition at the Museo della Permanente in Milan in October 2024. Serpetti is currently working on his next solo exhibition to be held at Galleria Giovanni Bonelli in Milan, curated by Giorgia Achilarre.
