BIO
Francesco De Grandi
Francesco De Grandi (Palermo, 1968) lives and works in Palermo.
Francesco De Grandi finds in the archetypal motifs of the history of painting a path to knowledge and a way for spiritual elevation, in a form of painting that is almost meditative.
Narrative, figurative, romantic, and evocative, De Grandi’s painting, which balances the study of nature and the feeling of the sacred, highlights the mature awareness of a painting in constant dialogue with tradition, yet open to contemporary tremors, flowing into an iconographic reinterpretation where everything blends and sometimes turns upside down.
It is a tribute to the immense human audience that, every day, from mythological tales to the raw chronicles of today, inhabits the world’s stage.
Graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, in 1994 he moved to Milan, where he stayed until 2008.
