BIO
Matteo Coluccia
Matteo Coluccia (Neviano, 1992) lives and works in Florence.
A visual artist who uses traditional media (performance, sculpture, painting, drawing, and printmaking) in an ambiguous, reduced, and mechanized version; falsely popular. He replicates, with excess or defect, experiential, social, and cultural dynamics, diminishing the centrality of the individual in the expressive charge of the present. Since 2020, he has been leading the off-site exhibition project Polka Puttana alongside Chiara Camellina, Luigi Presicce, and Gabriele Tosi. His exhibitions include: Ben Cromwell e il destino limaccioso dei numeri nascosti, curated by Elena and Alicya Ricciuto, Frosolone (Festival) 2023; non rimane che volare, curated by Giuseppe Arnesano, Francesca Disconzi, Federico Palumbo, Osservatori Futura, Turin (Group Show) 2023; Corpi sul palco, curated by Andrea Contin, Teatro Nuovi Linguaggi, Milan 2022; Facciamo da me, Spaziolalepre, Tortoreto, 2022; Can we still feel something?, curated by Eleonora Villa, Officine Brandimarte, Ascoli Piceno, 2022; Candies, curated by Stefano Giuri and Gabriele Tosi, Toast Project Space, Florence; Primo Vere, curated by Sergio Risaliti, Galleria Il Ponte, Florence, 2021; Piton de la Fournaise, Spazio Su, Lecce, 2020; Studiovisit rewind, curated by Pietro Gaglianò and Serena Trinchero, Casa Masaccio, San Giovanni Valdarno, 2019; La Cura, curated by Sergio Risaliti, Manifattura Tabacchi, Florence, 2019; Fare un’immagine di tanto in tanto, curated by Gabriele Tosi, Localedue, Bologna, 2018; This is the end, curated by Elena Magini, Centro Pecci, Prato, 2017.
