Valeria Carrieri

Valeria Carrieri (Rome, 1987)

Valeria Carrieri is an artist and researcher with a multidisciplinary background. Through her practice, which primarily involves drawings, monotypes, paintings, sculptures (mainly in papier-mâché and ceramics), embroidery, and texts, she explores the silent space at the intersection of art, mythology, and daily life. She is interested in the voids left in the ancient narratives of folklore and Mediterranean literature, particularly those that tell stories of plant metamorphosis and the personification of natural elements. She collaborates with artists and collectives on artistic and editorial projects. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies, including the Simposio di Pittura curated by L. Presicce at the Lac O Le Mon Foundation and VIR-Viafarini in Milan. In 2024, she was invited by C. Canziani, I. Gianni, and G. Gaibisso for IUNO COMMISSION #9. On this occasion, she presented her first solo exhibition, Nei giardini non dorme l’erba, in Rome, along with a monograph of her drawings published by DITO Publishing. Recent exhibitions include: DRAWINGSSSSSSS, Studiolo “Bureau”, Milan; Slow Metabolism, Meeting Gardens, Vicenza; Studiolo at rue du Dragon, Cabinet & Studiolo, Paris; VIR Open Studio, Milan; Li Sibburchi, Church of the Madonna degli Studenti, Lecce.
